Good news: Vietjet welcomes the inaugural flights between Shanghai and Ho Chi Minh City

(Shanghai, December 01, 2023) – In the festive atmosphere of the year-end holiday season, Vietjet Air has inaugurated a new route connecting Shanghai with Ho Chi Minh City, facilitating convenient and easy travel needs of both residents and tourists.

Attending the new route inaugural ceremony were Mr. Nguyen The Tung, Consul General of Vietnam in Shanghai, Mr. Wei Huaxiang – Consul General of China in Ho Chi Minh City, Mr. Le Truong Hien Hoa - Deputy Director of Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism, along with airport officials and representatives from trade associations of both countries. They extended their congratulations to Vietjet on the opening of the new route and warmly welcomed the first passengers on the inaugural flights.

Vietjet’s Shanghai - Ho Chi Minh City route operates with seven round-trips per week, with a flight time of just over 4 hours per leg.

Vietjet Vice President Nguyen Thanh Son gave a speech at the ceremony in Ho Chi Minh city.

Leaders of diplomatic and tourism agencies, and business associations participated in the launching ceremony of the new route.

With Vietjet’s new routes, flyers can easily travel to Shanghai, China’s most populous city and one of the four centrally administered municipalities of the second-largest economy in the world. In 2022, Shanghai's GDP reached 4.465 trillion Chinese yuan (663 billion USD), with a population of 24.76 million people. The connectivity between Ho Chi Minh City and Shanghai, the city ranked fifth in terms of billionaire number worldwide, will open up more opportunities for the development of high-end products, services, trade connections, and investment attraction.
