Vietjet launches direct Colombo – Ho Chi Minh City route, opening the gateway to Sri Lanka

(Vietjet, Colombo, Sri Lanka, August 19, 2026) – Bandaranaike International Airport in Colombo, Sri Lanka, today welcomed Vietjet’s inaugural flight between Colombo and Ho Chi Minh City, marking the launch of a new direct route connecting two prominent destinations in Sri Lanka and Vietnam.

The new route has received a warm welcome and congratulations from Hon. Anura Karunathilake, Minister of Ports and Civil Aviation and Minister of Energy of Sri Lanka; Hon. Prof. Ruwan Ranasinghe, Deputy Minister of Tourism of Sri Lanka; H.E. Trinh Thi Tam, Ambassador of Vietnam to Sri Lanka and Maldives; and H.E. Poshitha Perera, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Vietnam, together with Vietjet’s leadership, representatives of relevant authorities, and people from both countries. The new route strengthens connectivity between Vietnam and Sri Lanka, creating greater opportunities for trade, tourism and cultural exchange between the two nations.

The Colombo (Sri Lanka) – Ho Chi Minh City route operates three round-trip flights per week on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Flights depart from Tan Son Nhat International Airport (Ho Chi Minh City) at 18:15 (local time) and arrive at Bandaranaike International Airport (Colombo) at 21:50 (local time). Flights depart from Colombo at 23:00 (local time) and arrive in Ho Chi Minh City at 05:55 (local time) the following day.
